Bandipora, Jul 18 (KNO): Bandipora is set to welcome Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, son of the soil, who will visit the district tomorrow (July 19). Dulloo is known for his compassionate leadership and commitment to addressing the real issues of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat has expressed gratitude for the Chief Secretary’s visit, stating that Bandipora looks towards him with trust for fast-tracked development. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Bhat, is once again bringing to his notice the dilapidated condition of the Sumbal-Bandipora road, reminding that he had raised this issue in two earlier meetings with the Chief Secretary. He stressed that hurdles in upgrading the Srinagar-Bandipora road, including the demand for National Highway status, should be removed at the earliest to ease the difficulties faced by commuters. Bhat, also highlighted the issues of District Hospital Bandipora, including the non-functional lift, inadequate heating arrangements and staff shortages, which have been affecting patient care, requesting urgent intervention to ensure dignified healthcare for the people. Concerned about local livelihoods, Bhat urged the Chief Secretary to facilitate the reopening of Wullar, Watlab tourist points and Gurez for tourists, allowing people to earn during the peak season while ensuring necessary safety measures. He also stressed the need for the beautification of Bandipora town with proper street lighting and innovative steps to develop it as a model town of North Kashmir. Looking towards Bandipora’s future, Bhat is requesting the establishment of a Youth Skill Development Centre to address unemployment, eco-tourism projects around Wullar Lake to generate livelihoods while preserving ecology, implementation of solid waste management for a cleaner Bandipora, development of sports infrastructure to positively channel youth energy, and promotion of local handicrafts with strong market linkages for artisans. MLA Nizamuddin Bhat urged the Chief Secretary to consider these demands on priority during his visit so that the long-pending issues of Bandipora can be addressed without further delay—(KNO)
